Did women in the 80s wear leg warmers with long dresses & pumps? I'm putting a costume together.?

I in need of to get as extremely 80s as possible. I have a great dress with huge straightforwardly pads, but my boyfriend claims that women did not wear leg warmers with extensive skirts, and that I am trying to mix styles. I feel like I have seen pictures of such a attitude.
We wore leg warmers in the mid 80's, normally over jeans or with shorter skirts. The skirts are actually description of popular again now, like the little scooter skirts.
